Josef was born Klepešta 4. 6. 1895 and died in 1976. He was an important astronomer. He became famous mainly for his work in the field selenography.
He was co-founder and managing director of the Czech Astronomical Society. Issued utility similar revolving map of the sky, along with K. Novak gave small atlas maps of the northern sky and the moon. Also dealt with the planets by drawing pictures. Known as the drawings of Jupiter photos taken by telescopes.
In 1952 he issued a map of the Moon, which is based on the map was issued by the International Astronomical Union, which the original map substantially complementary. He also founded the Library Friends of the sky.
