Allegory, Black Mass and dream
Dreams and phantasies are the sisters of the night.
Allegoric photos have been a separate genre within photography since the beginning. Manipulation and special effects give the photographers the freedom to mix different photos into a new reality.
The night has always been a source of inspiration to photographers who were into dreams and allegory.
In this setting Black Masses which also take place at night, aren't far away.
The French photographer, Serge de Sazo made a series of photos about "La Messe Noire", 1950. This series tells the tale of delightful, naïve kitsch. All stereotype symbols of Black Magic are present, be it only as an excuse to photograph a nude.
